Summer is almost here and that means the Farmer's Markets are back in full swing. You can use your Bridge Card at many of the local markets and to make the deal even better, the Double Up Food Bucks program allows you to literally double your dollars.
When you arrive to the Farmer's Market, first go to the information booth or office. There, you will swipe your Bridge Card in the same way you would at a grocery store. In exchange for each dollar you use from your Bridge Card, you are given tokens that can be used at each vendor. The Double Up Food Bucks program will match dollars up to $20 each week. That means that if you swipe $20 off your Bridge Card, you are given $40 in tokens to spend at the market. You can double any even dollar amount starting at $2.
The $20 limit applies to each market, each week. You can head back to the same market every week or check out different locations throughout one week, and double up each time. You can always spend more money off your Bridge Card, but they will only double up to $20. If you don't use all your tokens, you can bring them back to that market later in the summer. Bridge Card tokens can only be used for the same types of things you'd buy in a grocery store, which means no prepared food, ready to eat meals, or non-edible items.
Making the rounds at the markets in the area is a great way to stretch your food budget. Plus, you are stocking your pantries and bellies with fresh fruits and vegetables. Not to mention supporting local farmers, it's a win-win-win!
