Summer Fun and Food at Local Libraries

Trying to keep your kids--or yourself--occupied this summer? Look no further than your local libraries to attend events, sign up for the Summer Reading Games or even get a free lunch!

The Ann Arbor District Library (AADL) is hosting their Summer Game, and people of all ages are invited to play. Using the online portal, you can log books, articles and DVDs that you have read or watched to accrue points. Points can be cashed out for fun prizes like coffee mugs, pens, stickers or clothing.

Another way to get points for the AADL Summer Game is by earning badges and gathering codes. We have two special codes. One can be found right here: WASHHEALTHYOU. Log onto your AADL account and enter your first code today!

Looking for more codes? We have another hidden in plain site at a downtown Ann Arbor Washtenaw County building. Hint: It's in the same place you would pick up your Washtenaw County ID!

The Ypsilanti District Library (YDL) also has a Summer Reading game. One of the ways to earn points is by attending the Lunch and Listen program. YDL has partnered with Food Gatherers to provide tasty and nutritious free lunches at the library. Kids can  listen to a story at the same time. Youth of all ages are welcome. Lunch and Listen runs weekdays through August 14th at these locations, dates, and times:

  • YDL-Superior Monday & Tuesday 12 pm
  • YDL-Whittaker Monday-Friday 1 pm
  • YDL-Michigan Monday-Friday 2 pm
